Distinguishing regional dysfunction and artefacts. Left panel: Regional ischemia is characterized by local changes in systole and early diastole and presents usually with a delayed onset of systolic shortening with marked post-systolic shortening (PSS) (here: apical segment). Right panel: Reverberation artefacts results in a typical band-like pattern of inverted colours around the position of the artefact which extends throughout the cardiac cycle.
